Mardan Palace Top Luxury Resort – The Crown Jewel of Antalya

Mardan Palace is one of the most beautiful and impressive 5-star resorts in Turkey, a statement of opulence that stands entirely on its own. It offers a level of quality and service that few other properties on the planet manage to replicate.

And if you consider that the hotel’s construction cost was a staggering 1.4 BILLION Dollars, you can already imagine the scale of luxury awaiting you. This is, by all means, a destination where your wildest dreams are engineered into reality.

But before you book, there is one major update you need to know: The hotel is currently transitioning under new management. Formerly the jewel of the Titanic Hotels group, operations have recently been taken over by Swandor Hotels & Resorts.

While you might still see it listed as “Titanic Mardan Palace” on some booking sites during this transition, don’t be confused if you see “Swandor Mardan Palace” on your arrival. The name on the door might change, but the gold inside remains!

Location: Closer Than You Think

Antalya itself is beautiful

The hotel sits in the Lara/Kundu District of Antalya, which is undeniably the “luxury” belt of the region. This is where you find the most spectacular hotels in Turkey, lined up one after another along the coast. If you’re traveling with your family, check out the best all-inclusive hotels for families in Lara, Turkey.

Lara is incredibly convenient and Mardan Palace itself is just 15 to 20 minutes away from Antalya Airport. That short transfer is a massive blessing after a flight. It’s also about 25 minutes from the city center if you want to explore.

Still, with the sheer volume of luxury Mardan Palace offers, chances are you won’t ever feel the need – or the desire – to leave this humongous resort that truly brings perfection to any vacation.

But if you DO decide to leave, make sure to visit Beautiful Pamukkale – one of Turkey’s top attractions.

A Design Built to Impress

The main point of attraction the creator had in mind when sketching Mardan Palace was grandeur, pure and simple – and I think there’s no doubt that it was achieved.

We are talking about 10,000 square meters of real gold leaf, 500,000 crystals, and 23,000 square meters of Italian marble used in the construction. This means that with every step you take, you have at least three visual reasons to be completely blown away. It is shiny, it is bold, and it makes no apologies for its extravagance.

The Pools and The “Swim Reef”

Mardan Palace overview of the pool and tower

The hotel holds one of the biggest pools in Europe. It is a massive 9,700-square-meter lagoon that circles the property, but the real showstopper is the “Swim Reef.”

This is a man-made, sunken aquarium containing tons of colored fish, where you might be able to even snorkel, depending on season and availability, so check with the concierge upon arrival.

Even if you don’t get in the water with them, the aquarium restaurant, Aquamarine, allows you to dine surrounded by the fish. It is a complete delight for the eye and a unique experience.

If the main pool isn’t enough, there are six additional pools located near the Lake Houses area for a quieter vibe, as well as a dedicated water park for a bit more adrenaline.

The Beach: Imported Perfection

white sand on the beach

The beach itself is truly spectacular, and there is a fascinating reason why.

Since this part of Turkey naturally lacks the powdery white sand of the Maldives, they didn’t settle for nature’s version.

Instead, 9,000 tons of white sand were imported from Egypt to offer visitors the finest beach experience possible. It doesn’t get hot on your feet, and it feels incredibly premium. It definitely beats the offer that our first visit in Turkey delivered, when we vacationed in Kusadasi (which still remains a great choice, too!) and a lower-star hotel – Arora Hotel (good if you’re on a budget, though).

Dining: A Feast for Kings

Like any luxury resort, Mardan Palace caters to every taste, but they take it a step further than the standard buffet. You have everything here, prepared by world-class chefs.

This huge resort is like a little city that you would never want to leave. It features over 30 restaurants and bars (depending on the season), most dedicated to a specific part of the world.

You aren’t just stuck with a buffet. You can dine at Pascarella for high-end Italian, Hasir for traditional Turkish cuisine (a must-try), or the Beef Grill Club if you want a perfect steak. There are also dedicated Asian, Indian, and Greek restaurants awaiting you.

But you also have other places to grab a quick bite or a treat, like the dedicated Ice Cream bar, a Fruit Buffet, or the Patisserie which serves sweets that look like art. In total, the variety ensures you will never eat the same meal twice unless you want to (and you might, because the food here is delicious!)

Rooms, Celebrities, and the Price of Gold

The rooms are astonishing and generally divided into two styles: European and Ottoman (Anatolian Wing). The latter, with its dark woods, gold accents, and heavy velvets, is the natural choice for those who don’t live in Turkey and want the full “Sultan” experience.

And really, there are not many words of praise you can have for a hotel that famously hosted a legendary opening party attended by icons like Monica Bellucci, Sharon Stone, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, Seal, and Kendall Jenner.

While those celebrities aren’t hanging out in the lobby every day, that history sets the tone for the level of service you receive.

All this luxury does come at a price, so don’t expect a budget-friendly vacation. However, it is not insanely expensive either. When you compare it to top-tier hotels in Dubai or Paris, you might be surprised to find that you can actually afford to stay in this palace.

The Verdict and a Top Alternative

Chances are that during a regular 7-night stay, you won’t get the chance to truly experience and try out all the restaurants, bars, and pools in this resort – but you’ll surely want to come back and “fix” that.

This is definitely a dream destination and remains one of the best choices in Turkey for those looking for a luxuriant stay where they are treated like royalty.

However, if you want something similar in terms of service and eye candy (but not quite to the “gold leaf everywhere” level), but for a more affordable price, I have a personal recommendation.

You can choose Dobedan Exclusive Hotel & Spa (formerly known as Alva Donna). This is the hotel where I spent my honeymoon, and I was equally impressed with it! It went through a rebranding recently, but the quality that made me fall in love with it remains the same.
